Around the Ground Report: Eagles vs Tuskers Pro20 Final

ICC Notice about behaviour at the ground
Not only the cricket players want to go to the IPL, there is a slot for dancers and these girls are contending
I was fortunate to get a comp ticket so I was sitting with some of the players who include, Hamilton Masakadza, Chamu Chibhabha, Brian Vitori, Tinashe Panyangara and Prosper Utseya
There was entertainment from a rapper who called himself Harare Hustler
And while they were not dancing the chicks were throwing helmets to fans from the back of a bakkie
Very low attendance at the final

In its third year 2011 was my first time to attend the Standard Bank Pro20 competition and it certainly was refreshing. Developments we would love to see next year would be the switching on of the flood lights and having some of those games at night and adding two extra teams being the Zimbabwe U19 or the two top school boy teams to actually play against the franchises. Seeing Chris Gayle, Ryan Ten Doschole, Shaun Tait, Dirk Nannes and other international cricketers on the local stage gave the competition came international flair and added to its profile.

Around The Ground Report - Mountaineers vs. Eagles Pro50, MSC 2011

Finally got to see Tendai Chatara in action for the first time
The scorers cabin with a big Mountaineers banner
I notice the clock atop the club house and remember the time when we played here, there was a prize for hitting that clock- a prize which nobody ever claimed
The Mountaineers supporters’ distinctly colour coded seating arrangements - a microcosmic mimic of race relations in Zimbabwean society perhaps?
As Liam Dawson walks past the entertainment centre, I start to think… it would be nice for the Deejays to also announce the batsmen coming to the crease.
Natsai Mushangwe is one of the two No.13s playing in the team. Is this why the Mounts have had such a bad run lately?
Former Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura prepares to play a shot.
Young supporters from Sheni Primary school in Dangamvura. There was no cricket in Dangamvura when I was growing up so ZC must be doing something right
However, only two lone Zimbabwe Cricket Jerseys pretty much sum up ZCs marketing strategy.
Stuart Matsikinyire congratulated by his team mates after scoring his first list A century
A camera records the day’s play at the top of the side screen
The Umpires have a chat
Sikander Raza

It was nice to be back at Mutare Sports club after almost 12 years. The setting of the ground still as beautiful as ever with the mountains in the background. Besides the addition of nets, not much development had taken place here.

I was at the Winky D concert during HIFA and who was there standing right next to me, Hamilton Masakadza. I took a few pics and then went up to him. I had met Hamilton on three different occasions, first time in Rosebank, I just stopped him in the mall and he was game to chat. Then again with an acquaintance who went to school with him. So when I went up to him and greeted him these was our little conversation.

Living Zimbabwe

The Southern African Nation of Zimbabwe (House of Stone) was born in 1980 after a history of British Colonial rule. After independence it and her citizens experienced what one may call ‘Freedom’ but after a few short years the state of the nation took a turn for the worse and this has seen Zimbabwe experience extreme turmoil that has almost left  it crippled. Living Zimbabwe aims to take a look at a number of topics that have anything to do with Zimbabwe. These may include its people, politics, business, culture, views from around the world and the list goes on.

3rdliberation.com

3rdLiberation.com was conceived as an online platform to blog, discuss and vent my frustrations on the Political, Social and Economic situation in my country Zimbabwe, to highlight how one organisation and its leader have taken a beautiful and thriving Southern African Nation and turned it into a political circus while holding the nation at ransom. Once the “Bread Basket” of Africa now the “Basket Case” of Africa. As a proud Zimbabwean myself this is a matter that is close to my heart and would like to bring my fellow people together in coming up with solutions on how to end this.
