If ever a movie had to be created on how Diasporan Darlings (“DD”) came about, a suggested film title we would put forward would be, “A Tale of Two Bloggers”. DD’s humble beginnings can be traced back to the year 2009, in cyberspace where we, Mukuka Mayuka and Vimbai Gwata, happened upon each other’s respective blogs. Despite living in different time zones and residing on different continents what bonded us, and the small community of African female bloggers we were a part of, was a deep-seated love and curiosity for all things Africa-related, as well as, our shared experiences of living outside our respective home countries.
