Distance from the people and places you love, and Distance from the life you feel you should be living.” Going Back is Not the Same as Staying is the debut album by Rapper/Producer Fore. Almost entirely self-produced, the album is the story of a young man's journey across years and continents. Distant from the people he loves, and the life he envisions for himself, Fore tackles heavy subject matter like politics, his absentee father, and long distance relationships with a sincerity, and self-awareness that belie his 25 years.

Having lived on four continents before the age of eighteen, Fore was exposed to a wide range of cultures and experiences that allowed him a culturally pliant sense of self that is reflected in his music, which mines samples from wide ranging influences like the Cocteau Twins and Mali’s Amadou and Miriam. Lyrically, Fore's work is punctuated by complex rhyme schemes that betray a childhood affinity for Big L, Big Pun and Nas with a modern sense of emotional honesty and artistic ambition.
